the next outing on mora music comes from leeds based tms, delivering two well-rounded & versatile tracks. *fuck you, pay me* is the peak timer with firing, pounding kick drums and off-key stabs in the background. it builds to a crescendo of intense feedback, before suddenly dropping with the bass line you have been waiting for. *slomotion* on the b-side is the slow burner of the ep confirmed by the beautiful hook that comes in halfway through the track. rounding off the release comes a remix of slomotion from mora music favourite bobby o donnell. this hypnotic trippy little number raises the bar, taking the track to an intense dance floor high.

there are two styles that dachshund does particularly well, airtight dance-floor grooves and lush emotive deep house. the towards others ep leans largely to the latter but with a knowing glance to the floor.

the prolific lord of the isles (aka scotlands neil mcdonald) has had a string of stunning 12 inches over the past few years on labels such as permanent vacation, unthank, shevchenko, mule and of course his four track > year of the city ep< on phonica, which was widely acclaimed upon its release in 2012. this time loti presents two long-form tracks, each a mini-masterpiece in itself. the 10 minute plus >greane< bursts into life after an intro of kicks and white noise hi-hats. it continues to slowly build, with pitch-bent synth lines and a pulsing bass-line making way for a melacholic shift in mood. truly original stuff! on the flip, a swirl of synthetic strings introduces ‘gigha’, in a manner that brings to mind rhythm is rhythm’s legendary ‘kao-tic harmony’, before the drums and infectious acid-line join in. over the 8 minutes they continue to interweave and play off each other to dazzling effect. artwork by jack featherstone, the designer of a number of sleeves for border community (including the highly praised campaign behind james holden’s ‘the inheritors’, its singles and live visuals), electric minds, warm and of course, phonica.

having emerged from a crop of disco flavoured releases and vocal led remixes a couple of years ago, ashley casselle and asadinho decided to embark upon creating a series of stripped down housey techno dj tools to be used as experimental moments within their own podcasts and dj sets. this degree of honesty, and a desire to hark back to the roots of the music that drew them together in the first place, resulted in the sublime and bouncy *ceefox*. grainy 70s b-movie strings atop an addictive bassline equals a subtle yet huge club moment wherever it is played. we here at murge decided to entice these charming deejays to put out this deep and groovesome tune with us. two remixes come courtesy of new kingpin on the block jordan peak, who takes things into a more stomping club arena, and the beautifully glictchy ambience of julien miers headphone friendly interpretation.

brilliant! classic chilean influenced stuff with a splendid touch of international atmosphere. with two weightless pieces of music which seem to be suptle at the same time, un_node shows, that one or another movement has still its reason to exist in our young electronic history. both pieces remember of the classic south american house and connect this to dynamic aesthetics sounds. finally, this music with international character scintillates without any exaggeration and is thereby unmistakable.

it s been a long, long time since coyu produced an ep full of original tracks for his beloved kitty label. september of 2013 was the last party groovers from him. through all these months our mastercat has released several eps on cocoon recordings, snatch! records, noir music, bedrock records and some edits and original tracks with ramiro lopez and edu imbernon that have been released on suara. finally, we have our mastercat alone with two oustanding cuts. in my mind is a dark techno track with a break that it will literally blow your head up... balls , however, is a very housey and summery cut that will definetely break your hips because of the instantly recognisable vocals and the killer darbuka rhythm. enjoy this is 100% coyu!

the new soft-spoken, hard-rocking group from baltimore debuted their full length live show at the wolf + lamb marcy hotel this march. following in the footsteps of greats like nicolas jaar and pillowtalk, they were the first invited guest in over 2 years to perform at the legendary brooklyn proving grounds. life on planets is a duo that met in the studio lofts of their east coast hometown, whereby a collaboration fusing indie artrock and electronic music began to take shape. it was a pairing of two dramatically different personas, merging as one for a serendipitous, romantic sound that s now been signed to the double standard label. life on planets has also released music through better on foot, where the debut single apollo made waves in early 2014. the touring act features live vocals and guitar, backed by a dj/producer, dawning a long-awaited return to authentic songwriting in dance music.

straight out of egypt via berlin comes this excellent two-tracker from the little-known son of sun. according to the press release accompanying the whispers ep, both tracks were inspired by a week sailing a yacht around the black sea. true or not (we have our doubts), there s certainly a sun-kissed laziness - despite weighty kick-drums and hissing, detroit techno style cymbals - about the woozy, dubtribe soundsystem style deep house of a-side -moonchild-. while impressive, the real killer is -whispers-, which peppers a swinging, dance mania style hip-house groove with snaking saxophones and atmospheric, spoken word vocals. it feels like a late night adriatic anthem in the making.
